What is a balanced chemical equation? why should chemical equations be balanced?
i. when the number of atoms of different elements on both sides of a
a chemical equation is equal, it is called a balanced equation.
ii. According to the law of conservation of mass, the total mass of products
must be equal to the total mass of reactants. that’s why the chemical equation should
be balanced.
example:
BaCl2 + H2SO4 → BaSO4 + 2HCl
| Name of elements | Reactant | Product |
| Ba Cl H S O | 1 2 2 1 4 | 1 2 2 1 4 |
